Bohemian Rhapsody: Altuzarra x Target Review

Call it boho or a bit witchy (I totally felt some American Horror Story Coven vibes when I put this on), this Altuzarra for Target Swiss dot maxi dress gives off a dark and sultry sophistication

Here is my second look from the Altuzarra for Target line! As some of you may know, our photographer Alfonso "Fonzi" Borrell is my boyfriend and today is our three-year anniversary. To celebrate, I chose this dress for our date night out together. This Swiss dot maxi dress with gold sequin embellishment on the bodice and sleeves is gorgeously crafted, and with the right accessories, can be styled for a day or night look.

Pretty is in the details. The Swiss dot sheer sleeves accent beautifully with the rows of gold sequin embellishment.

I kept my accessories minimal, as the gold sequin embellishment along the sleeves and bodice substituted for jewelry. I wore gold drop earrings, which I believe I bought from Target several years ago, a Target banded ring and black ankle-strap suede and leather wedges from Urban Outfitters. These are a go-to pair of shoes for me that have lasted for years, are comfortable and match with just about everything I own. If you haven't yet, invest in a good, classic black wedge for when you want to be stylish without sacrificing comfort.

Once again, I loved how this look was styled in the look book, so I paired it with the python-embossed belt from the Altuzarra for Target line. I love how it really cinches in the waist and how the python contrasts with the Swiss dot fabric of the maxi. I opted for a bold and sultry deep red lip with MAC's Party Line lipstick and kept my hair sleek and swept to the side.

As much as I adore this dress, it's not the same dress I saw in the look book. That dress had a much higher and more dramatic slit that reached about mid thigh, offering an Angelina Jolie leg-pop-reveal at any moment of the day. The mass produced dress sold in stores, however, had a much more inconspicuous slit that reached just above the knee and was placed right on the side of the dress, making it barely noticeable. Just for it to show in the shoot, I had to shift the skirt over! Also, the dress featured in the look book had a dramatic deep-v neckline and was floor length, on who I imagine was a very tall model. On my dress? No deep-v. As far as the length, I'm 5'7, average to above average height, so I don't expect the dresses to be super long, as that wouldn't fit the general population. But it came up so short on me compared to the look book photo and I debated if heels were even a good choice as the dress barely hit my ankles!

Besides those few differences, this dress is truly impeccable.

Check back this weekend for more looks from Altuzarra for Target!

The slit is the standout feature of this maxi, but it is not as dramatic as the look book portrayed it to be.

The Swiss dot fabric felt rich, and the sheer peasant sleeves and cinched waist flatters the female shape.

I went for a bold, deep red lip with MAC's Party Line lipstick to accent the ruby color used throughout the collection. I kept my hair sleek and swept to the side.

This python-embossed faux leather belt went fast at my Target! I debated putting it back until I saw all were taken less than half an hour after Target doors opened.

These tassels capped off in shiny, gold hardware were beautifully crafted and added to the bohemian feel of the dress.
