Drakkar Noir: Altuzarra x Target Review

Finding the perfect blazer is difficult, but this one from Altuzarra for Target hit the mark for me.

Drakkar Noir

Even though the Altuzarra for Target collection debuted weeks ago, I'm still cycling through all my purchases and, dare I say, made a few more! I am now the proud owner of the red velvet blazer I so greatly coveted thanks to my amazing boyfriend (our resident photographer) who bid for it on eBay for $10 over the retail price. Although I hate to admit I fell prey to sellers who quickly bought up the collection to sell it on eBay for a profit (which is the very reason it sells out so quickly and I missed out on the blazer in the first place), that blazer was just too great to pass up and I'm excited to share it with you styled in an upcoming look. I also purchased the black ponte dress, the perfect LBD with gorgeous lace detailing along the neckline. You can see this dress featured in our Stitch of the Day post from yesterday. Also, it's still online to purchase at www.Target.com!

I'll occasionally continue to feature different pieces from the Altuzarra collaboration in upcoming looks, but prepare for some exciting new content in the upcoming weeks and a surprise announcement! This week, I'm featuring the black tuxedo blazer from the collaboration, one of my favorite purchases from the line.

Parisian cool was the inspiration for this look, and I took cues straight from the Altuzarra for Target look book.

A black blazer is a classic wardrobe staple, but finding the perfect one to fit your individual style and body can be difficult. Maybe it fits in the arms but is too big in the torso or vice versa. Are the lapels too big or too small? Should they contrast with the torso and sleeves? Maybe in leather? Like the LBD, a black blazer can be very personalized to your style, and this Altuzarra for Target tuxedo blazer hit the mark for me. The wide lapels in a contrasting satiny fabric and peplum detailing along the lower back perfectly encapsulate my style. I love how the python jacquard fabric juts out underneath the peplum back. A single-button closure meets with body-flattering curved seams. This really is my ideal blazer and was a steal at $54.99, impeccably crafted at that too.

I took a cue from the line’s look book to style this blazer, dressed in all black for a Parisian vibe (à la YSL) with a hint of androgyny. Underneath, I wore the Swiss dot blouse also from the line. Unfortunately, I was unable to nab the tuxedo pants from the collaboration as they weren’t sold in my local Target, but I wore a similar pair from Forever 21 with a satiny tuxedo stipe down the sides.

For shoes, I chose my favorite black patent, open-toe sandals from Zara. I adore these heels for their versatility; they go with so many different evening looks. The chunky heel and ankle strap also make these super comfortable and easy to walk in. I often call them my Barbie heels for their resemblance to vintage Barbie’s open-toe black mules.

I accessorized this look with a quilted Simply Vera Wang for Kohl’s shoulder bag (à la Chanel), tucking the brushed silver straps in to transform it in to a clutch. I also wore a black onyx-like engraved silver cocktail ring from Target. To keep with the Parisian-cool feel, I styled my hair sleek and straight with a nude lip (Marquis D by MAC) and an elongated black cat eye under bold brows. To accentuate the cat eye, I created a light-brown wing tip with Buck eye shadow by Urban Decay. I highlighted underneath the brow with Virgin shadow by Urban Decay and opted for a metallic rosy blush tone for the lower lid.

The detailing is incredible on this Altuzarra for Target blazer and feels almost as if it was tailored for me.

To keep with the ultra sleek and sophisticated feel of my all black, Parisian-inspired look, I chose a shimmery nude lip using Marquis D lipstick by MAC and a black cat eye accentuated with a light-brown winged shadow on the creases of my lids (Buck by Urban Decay). I set that off with a pearly shadow under my brows and on my lower lid (Virgin by Urban Decay).

Pretty is in the details. I kept my jewelry minimal with this bold black onyx-esque ring from Target.

I call these patent ankle-strap Zara heels my Barbie shoes because they remind me of the open-toe mules vintage Barbies always wore.

The standout feature of this blazer is the peplum back, which reveals a panel of python jacquard fabric. These tuxedo stripe pants from Forever 21 paired perfectly.

To keep this look classic, I chose a quilted should bag by Simply Vera Wang for Kohl's, tucking in the brushed silver chain straps. I've had it for years and wear it with everything.
